Hello, Supafam! We are excited to bring you another fantastic tutorial featuring Stephanie from High Range Trading Co. In this video, Stephanie demonstrates how to press multiple locations on headwear using a cap press. Whether you're customizing hats for a brand or creating unique designs, this guide will help you achieve perfect results every time.
Step 1: Preparing the Hat
First things first, it's essential to remove any internal elements of the hat:
-
Remove the Cardboard: Take out the cardboard insert from the hat. This ensures a smooth surface for pressing.
-
Pull Out the Flap: When placing the hat on the platen, pull out the inner flap to avoid any creases or bumps.
Step 2: Setting Up the Press
Stephanie sets up the cap press at 300°F with a medium pressure. Here’s how to get started:
-
Tape Down the Transfer: Secure your Supacolor transfer in place using heat tape.
-
Use a Pressing Pillow and Parchment: Place a pressing pillow under the hat and a sheet of parchment paper over the transfer. This creates a barrier and ensures even pressure.
Step 3: Pressing the Front of the Hat
Load the hat onto the press:
-
Secure the Hat: Use the lever to pull the back of the hat and make it snug on the platen.
-
Position the Pillow and Parchment: Ensure the pressing pillow is beneath the hat and the parchment paper covers the transfer.
-
Press: Close the press and set the timer for 10 seconds.
Step 4: Peeling the Transfer
Supacolor's new formula offers more flexibility:
-
Peel Time: You now have a window of 10 to 15 seconds to peel the transfer, making the process more convenient.
Step 5: Pressing on Mesh
To add designs to the mesh part of the hat:
-
Position the Hat: Pull out the inner flap and secure the hat on the platen with the lever.
-
Apply the Transfer: Place the transfer on the mesh and cover it with parchment paper.
-
Press Again: Close the press and press for another 10 seconds.
Step 6: Final Results
In just a few simple steps, you can have a fully decorated hat:
